The 1040 Initiative is a nonprofit that exists to provide life-changing essentials to impoverished communities in Côte d'Ivoire.
Our work centers around education, health care, and safe drinking water to those who would otherwise go without.
Since 2010, 1040i supporters have impacted more than 38,000 lives in Africa.

Medicine
Each year, we arrive in Côte d'Ivoire to care for the communities where there is no health care. We hold a full-scale hospital complete with surgeries, clinics, a pharmacy, and post-op care.

Education
Our Tanda Bilingual Academy was developed to ensure a comprehensive education to children who otherwise would not receive it. The K-12 campus in Tanda, Côte d'Ivoire is almost complete!

Having been born and raised in West Africa, my husband and I both have a strong sense of the significant needs facing the people in third world countries. Even simple things that we take for granted — clean water, education, basic medical care, etc — are huge deficits that so many people are lacking around the world. We have seen the amazing dedication 1040i has to serving the underserved and can trust that whatever we donate makes a significant impact on people’s lives.

1040i has taught me that there is no such thing as "the middle of nowhere". The people that we serve are somebody's from somewhere, and they matter. Our monthly support check is my most favorite to write and it blesses me as much or more than the recipients. 1040i also provides the opportunity to be in-country each February and it is an annual highlight for me. Nothing can replace the personal experience of showing up to offer care, love, and support, face-to-face. I am 1040i and you can be too.

I give to 1040i to support life-changing working. The work 1040i does to provide water, healthcare, and education is incredible but the real miracle is in the lives that are touched and forever changed through the work. Regardless of whether you are patient, student, doctor, volunteer, or donor an encounter with 1040i stirs something in your heart. I like so many others have witnessed and experienced this firsthand, my life is forever changed by my experience and connection with 1040i.
